ADMARC ventures into farming

ADMARC Limited has resumed commercial farming, signaling a strategic shift in agribusiness and a renewed commitment to national food security.

In the current growing season, ADMARC has completed the harvesting of maize in Mangochi and Salima. These efforts have yielded promising returns, with the harvested crop set to bolster both food supply and value-added products.

During a familiarisation tour with board members, Chief Executive Officer Daniel Makata shared insights into the company’s revitalised agricultural vision: “ADMARC was known for farming in the past, we are restoring that legacy. We have started with maize and groundnuts, and next season we will expand into other crops such as beans.”

Makata also emphasized ADMARC’s openness to contract farming partnerships, inviting farmers across the country to collaborate in the production of key commodities including rice, beans, maize, soybeans, and groundnuts.

Beyond cultivation, much of the harvested maize will be stored in ADMARC’s facilities, with plans to process it into locally produced maize flour, a strategic step in ADMARC’s broader value addition efforts.

A member of ADMARC’s board Daniel Chitonya commended the organisation’s recent progress, affirming the board’s confidence in the direction the company is taking.

“As members of the board, we commend the achievements to date and remain optimistic about the expanded initiatives planned for the coming growing season,” he said.

ADMARC drives agricultural progress by marketing produce, adding value, and advancing national policies that support food security and economic stability.
