ADMARC to Import 200,000 Metric Tonnes of Maize

ADMARC Limited is expected to import 200,000 metric tonnes of maize into Malawi, aimed at ensuring consistent maize availability in its markets.

This critical move reflects ADMARC’s core mandate of promoting national food security and stabilizing market prices.

The decision to import maize follows an assessment of stock levels, market trends, supply flows, and the impact of rising maize prices on household food security.

“By importing maize, ADMARC aims to curb escalating prices and ensure every Malawian can access this essential food item at a fair and affordable cost,” said ADMARC Limited CEO Daniel Makata.

This is aligned with the broader national strategy to mitigate the effects of climate change and the growing unpredictability of agricultural production.

“While ADMARC remains deeply committed to supporting Malawian farmers through the purchase and distribution of locally grown maize, the current market conditions require timely and responsive interventions,” he said.

He assured the public that all imported maize will adhere to the highest standards of quality and safety.
