The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture and Irrigation has pledged to lobby Parliament for increased budgetary allocation to ADMARC, saying inadequate funding is negatively affecting the Company’s operations.
Committee Chairperson, Hon. Anthony Kamoto, made the remarks when members of the committee toured ADMARC Limited Head Office and Limbe Depot to appreciate the Company’s operations.
“ADMARC Limited is one of the key players in the development of the country’s agriculture sector. We will give all the necessary support to ensure that the Company is able to implement its plans,” said Kamoto.
Kamoto emphasized that increased funding would enable ADMARC to improve its efficiency and better serve farmers and consumers across the country.
ADMARC Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ben Botolo, thanked the committee for the visit and for demonstrating commitment towards supporting ADMARC Limited.
ADMARC Limited is a government-owned Company mandated to contribute to Malawi’s socio-economic development through the marketing of agricultural commodities, farm inputs and services, as well as value addition for both local and export markets.
Currently, ADMARC is involved in crop production to complement purchases from farmers. It also continues to trade in agricultural commodities while promoting value addition to enhance market competitiveness.
